  • The Surging Growth: In 2014, the world produced 44.4 million metric tonnes (Mt) of e-waste. By 2022, that number climbed to 62 million tonnes, and it is projected to soar to 82 million tonnes by 2030.

  • The “Wasted” Majority: According to the latest comprehensive global report, only 22.3% of all generated e-waste is documented as being properly collected and recycled. The remaining 77.7% (nearly 48 million metric tonnes in 2022 alone) is completely wasted—ending up in landfills, incinerated, or illegally traded and dumped.

  • Financial Losses: That 77.7% chunk of wasted electronics means that roughly $62 billion worth of recoverable, critical natural resources (like copper, gold, silver, and palladium) are discarded directly into the ground every single year instead of being routed back into the circular economy.
